Caring For Your Chains
All our pieces are surgical grade stainless-steel, this means that it won’t ever corrode, tarnish, or cause you any irritation to your skin through nickel content. This also means that keeping our pieces clean is relatively simple, if you find any build-up of the body’s natural oils and skin cells you can clean your piece by following these simple instructions.
1- Soak your piece in warm soapy water for 10 minutes (dish soap is ideal as it’s a degreaser).
2- use a fine bristled brush, like a toothbrush, to clean in between rings or at butted sections. This should free up any harder to reach build up.
3- Rinse your piece with clean warm water.
4- Dab with a clean dry cloth and then allow your piece to air dry naturally.
5- Wear your clean & shiny jewellery and enjoy!
This applies to all pieces, from bracelets and necklaces to our body harnesses. If you have any questions regarding this please get in touch via our Contact page.
Ethics & Body Positivity
My pieces are all made from surgical-grade stainless-steel, this means that it won’t ever corrode, tarnish, or cause you any irritation to your skin through nickel content. My steel is sourced in Europe from ethical factories and my hardware (clasps, welded chain etc…) is British made. All of this ensures that I can be proud of every piece that I put out as I know the source of all my materials, and I know that ethically we are doing it right! It’s very important to me that every person involved in my business; whether that be directly or indirectly; is taken care of fairly. I will never use unethical labour or the likes to create any product available in my store.
We are also big advocates of body positivity; this means that on our harnesses we don’t offer set sizes. We prefer to offer them as a bespoke made service, this way we can cater for all body shapes and sizes and make sure that NOBODY is left out at any stage!
Lifetime Warranty
Thanks to my process for creating my pieces I offer a lifetime warranty on every single piece that I make, I know that my materials and hardware are of the best quality that they can be and as yet not once have I had a piece come back to me for repairs or with any issues at all!
Scorned in Chains started entirely accidentally. In July 2023 I found myself laid up at home following some minor surgery and thanks to my inability to do nothing I found some bits of chain from a past housemate and within an hour I’d dismantled a purse which had a clasp on it and fashioned the chains and clasp into a bracelet. Friends of mine loved my bracelet and asked to buy one for themselves, so I had a look into buying the materials to recreate this. However, the bracelet wasn’t the best quality being made from aluminium and chrome plated steel and I decided that if I were to sell my work then it had to be the best quality that I could create, no matter what!
After a lot of research and testing materials that I purchased online I found that the jump rings available just weren’t tough enough for what I had envisioned and after a bit more research I concluded that the best thing to do was to make my own. So, I set on with the task of finding stainless-steel wire and making my own jig to turn jump rings, followed by creating my own process to cut them and have a perfect butted closure on each one. I’m something of a perfectionist so this took some time and a lot of trial and error before I became happy with the result, which has led to what I’m putting out today, fully hand-made chains crafted from ethically sourced stainless-steel using British made closures.
How It's Made
Here's a video of how our chains are made, every link is created from 316L stainless steel wire which we turn into the pieces you see here using our own process that we created!

Measuring Yourself
Here are some handy videos on how to measure yourself for our chains! Just follow along on the video and if you're struggling just ask a friend to give you a hand, it's easiest to measure your neck in front of a mirror!
Both videos will show how to use a tailors tape measure and how to use a cable with a regular tape measure. Alternatively a ruler can be used in combination with the cable AND you can also use string instead of a cable!
